The expense of educational cost for advanced education is rapidly rising. Over portion of school first year recruits tell some worry with the best way to pay for school. This is the most noteworthy this number has been since 1971 (Marill and O’Leary 64-66, 93). The measure of college alumni obligation has been quickly expanding moreover. With restricted occupations accessible as a result of the high joblessness rate, school graduates wind up remaining owing debtors considerably more. Despite the fact that awards and budgetary guide are accessible to understudies, understudies despite everything battle to pay for their school educational cost. Advanced education costs are restrictively costly in light of the fact that the state’s income is low, the joblessness rate is high, and graduates can't take care of their understudy credits. One explanation that advanced education isn't moderate is that the states’ income is low and the states are paying off debtors. Due to their diminishing expense incomes, numerous states need to make cuts in their spending plan. Accordingly, educational cost is rising and different changes are occurring all through schools. A portion of these progressions include: higher understudy to workforce proportions, less however bigger classes, and less nearby employments that typically bolster understudies (Hulsey 24). These progressions influence understudies and effect their view and choices of specific schools. The educational cost rate has additionally â€Å"been increasing at around 6 percent a year for the greater part of the previous ten years† (Marill and O’Leary 64-66, 93). This percent unavoidably makes it harder for understudies to locate a reasonable school. High educational cost costs likewise shield a few people from going to their fantasy school. These prog ressions affect the understudies and the rising educational cost costs. Another consequence of the various states being in the red is that they are giving universities less money related assistance. â€Å"Prior to ... ...or then again all understudies. One explanation behind this is the states’ income is low. High joblessness rates likewise add to this issue. Another reason for this is the powerlessness of understudies to take care of their advances. About 66% of school first year recruits feel worried about how to pay for school and nearly a similar sum graduate with obligation (Marill and O’Leary 64-66, 93). Since high educational cost and advances definitely influence an individual, numerous understudies feel compelled to think about this when making arrangements for their future. Numerous plans and dreams that secondary school understudies have become changed when reality hits them about the expense of proceeding with their training. Along these lines, understudies just can't manage the cost of advanced education.

The Eyes Have It Essays - Dragon, Wolf Nomads, Demon,

The Eyes Have It The Eyes Have It is a book of experience. While understanding it, I got the sense that before it was composed into a book, it was a Role Playing Game, what's more, the Games Master had played the experience, loved the amazing way his players had led the experience, and composed it into a book. Thusly it relates to my point intensely, as it IS a Role Playing Game. In another manner it doesn't identify with RPG's at all since it's a book, and not a game. Be that as it may, it identifies with my point in one unadulterated sense - it's an experience. All RPG's are undertakings. The story starts as one Askar-Ben-Oba, child of the head of the Wolf Migrants, must venture out through a mainland to wed his promised, one Maria Griswalda. Askar wouldn't like to wed Maria, yet he should. His clan, the Wolf Nomads, was at one time a pleased and upbeat race. They battled various fights and won the fights and furthermore the dread and regard of their partners. Yet, after some time, they had relaxed. The Spider Queen, an undead animal, had the arrangement to assume control over the entirety of the Yeomanry. The Yeomanry is the place the story happens, and is a tremendous mainland where various races and societies live (like Asia and Africa set up with certain outsiders and day off tossed in.) the Spider Queen had the thought of annihilating this useful for her own, and transforming it into her dark area. She did. She threw a spell which made a colossal dark air pocket. It spread like a plague and developed for associations toward each path. Anything that entered this air pocket never came out. The Spider Queen tossed her min orcs, evil spirits, kobolds, and so forth into this air pocket to loot and pulverize. This she did effectively. Be that as it may, one individual would not bring this plunking down. While the Wold Migrants, who were far away and excessively far to truly get the impacts of this bubble, rested their backside and became habitually lazy people, one Kathryn Greenery Cliffe, little girl of King Buncombe the Green. Kathryn had the will and the need to wreck the Spider Queen. This she did, with the assistance of a otherworldly pearl, the Eye of Tiros. Kathryn utilized the enchantment power inside the eye to decimate the Spider Queen. When she was obliterated, life got typical in the Yeomanry. Kathryn likewise had the activity of modifying the demolition of the Creepy crawly Queen. In any case, while the Wolf Nomads were crumbling, and Kathryn modifying, Kranoch, a ruler of a district in the Yeomanry, was plotting vengeance on Kathryn. Her dad had blinded Kranoch by a bolt while on an ambush attack, and Kranoch needed retribution. Kranoch accumulated his armed forces and the left over cronies of the Spider Queen, and made a military ground-breaking enough to pulverize Kathryn and her district of Sterich. Kranoch likewise needed the Eye of Tiros, the supernatural diamond, which he thought would fix his visual deficiency. With this as his fundamental main thrust, he went out of control. Back to the Wolf Nomads for a second. The Wolf Nomads were rapidly breaking down. Askar-Ben-Oba, the child of the boss, was to wed Maria Griswalda, the girl of a rich Nomad who had gone to Sterich and made a fortune. Maria's sizeable settlement was seriously expected to finance the Wolf Nomads in their every day lives and to modify themselves into the incredible clan they used to be. The story all meets up as Askar sets out on his excursion to Sterich to wed Maria. On his excursion, the Eye of Tiros is taken, and he is confined as the cheat when he sits in a shabby bar. The bar supporters found Askar as the trick and surrounded him with the wrongdoing. Askar is rebuffed, looked, and discovered blameless. Yet, he doesn't pull off the burglary neatly, as he is as yet the prime suspect. Askar gets an iron neckline fit around his neck, with an enchantment spell on it. The spell makes the neckline around his neck shrivel a little consistently, so in the long run it will choke him. His solitary getaway is to discover the Eye of Tiros so the neckline can be evacuated. Askar realizes his best way to endure is by finding the Eye. This he decides to do. Ethics And Values In Health And Social Care Negligence Problems - 2200 Words

Ethics And Values In Health And Social Care: Negligence Problems (Essay Sample) Content: Ethics and Values in Health and Social Care Student’s ID Institution Course Date Task 1 In long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, negligence is exemplified when staffs fail to look after themselves as well as residents. Some of the negligence situations that may occur in this setting include poor sanitation and hygiene, which are easily preventable. However, if the issues are not put into consideration, they may lead to poor working environments, illnesses, distress, as well as injuries. In the given scenario, a manager from the head office is complaining about the untidiness that has been witnessed in the staff area, which indicates that there is poor care. Here, caregivers in the nursing home do not observe social justice, human dignity, altruism, autonomy, and integrity as core values in their field of practice (Costello, 2017). Nursing homes’ residents suffer from different medical conditions, which may worsen if they are put in unhygienic environments, thus resulting in wreak havoc on their health. Moreover, most of the residents here are elderly a nd, hence, their immune system is quite weak. Therefore, placing them in an environment that is full of bacteria, viruses, and germs can risk their health. In this case, it is right to say that if the staff area in a nursing home is untidy, it poses a threat to both employees and residents. As a profession, nursing embraces caring and connecting with people. This is well revealed when nurses are able to exemplify the five professional values which are important in this field. Human dignity, as a core value, provides that nurses should be responsible for the well-being of patients through respecting their autonomy (Costello, 2017). Also, while caring for patients, they should maintain their professional integrity and avoid conflict of interest. By practicing such conducts, they will be able to establish a trustworthy relationship with patients. It is also important for nurses to recognize that if they promote and preserve their own health, caring for their patients will not be a problem. Even though they may face challenges in their line of duty, which may threaten personal integrity, nurses should be able to understand the risk of compromising their honor (Fahrenwald et al., 2005, p.48). In this setting, altruism is another value that underpins care since it is concerned with the welfare of others. Moreover, it is used when making ethical decisions that are concerned with patients’ care. However, altruism is not always translated into practice since it requires one to put other people’s needs first, which is sometimes difficult to achieve. Therefore, an altruistic nurse who cares for the rights of patients would risk on behalf of coworkers to clean the staff area. Human dignity is considered a core value which characterizes all aspects of the nursing profession. Therefore, a nurse with human dignity sees the unique desires and needs of patients (Fahrenwalds et al., 2005, p.49). Lastly, social justice tends to be concerned with principles of humanity, legality, and morality. Therefore, it should collectively be practiced by all nurses to ensure that patients receive adequate and quality care. Task 2 Core values and ethics are behavioral standards that offer a background for evaluating approaches as well as beliefs that influence character. The development of core ethics and values has been influenced by a number of factors, including education, professional experience, as well as culture (Van Schalkwyk, 2012). Educational and professional experiences play a major role in the growth of these values. This is because it makes a difference in their formation as well as influences their instillation and development. Role modeling and teaching are two aspects that strengthen these values. During clinical placements, students learn professional values from their observations or formal education. Therefore, they rely on the creativity of their educator to stimulate elements such as beliefs, attitudes, and emotions. This is because these elements are sometimes taught incidentally since they may not necessarily be in the curriculum. Therefore, students acquire their professional values th rough clinical experience and educational processes depending on the set standards and norms (Van Schalkwyk, 2012). Even though nursing values can be taught, they can only be internalized through experience during the nursing practice. This aspect differentiates the theoretical part of nursing from implementation. Human dignity manifests in a nurse profession depending on the length of work experience. Thus, lower dignity is mostly exemplified by nurses who have a maximum of two years of experience. Moreover, younger or entry nurses are driven by economic returns as compared to the experienced practitioners. In the nursing home a scenario occurred where one of the members of the staff refused to clean the room because it was it was inhabited by a gay man because it was against their religion. Different religions have different beliefs and this staff member maybe his/her religion denies them from contacting gay people because maybe they may become gay. Therefore, the administration in this nursing home should not fire the employee or punish him in any of the way. They should promote religious freedom at work. Also, the employer should take a step further and find out whether the reason is genuine or not. If it is found out that it is not true then the employer should take the appropriate action. Therefore, the employer should not make conclusions by himself/herself. For intake the management in this nursing home should not assume that the people from the same religion share the same beliefs. An incident also occurred in the nursing home where an elderly client who has worked in different countries from 1950s-1980s was abusing the black and the Asian staff. The research which was carried out most recently shows that blacks and the Asians are mostly harassed in the place of work. This will create tension at the workplace and therefore the nursing home will not be receiving any of the clients and therefore they will incur very huge loses. The management in this nursing home should investigate these claims and they should come with recommendations. Firstly, the management of the nursing home should treat these racism case according to the policies which have been established. This will greatly help the victims who have been harassed to know that the company can handle such situations. The management should also encourage the employees to be reporting any incident of racism to the relevant authorities. The management from the head office of the nursing home also complained about untidiness in the staff areas and this will lead to poor care. This can be very dangerous to the patients because there might be the outbreak of diseases and this may lead to the nursing home being shut down. Building which are poorly maintained will have a longer life than those which are not properly maintained. This will become very economical and will help the nursing home from incurring the unnecessary expenses. The management in this organization should encourage the employees to maintain high levels of cleanliness and the employees who will fail to do that will face very serious consequences. This will help to promote hygiene in the nursing home. Two co-workers were overheard debating about beating the child when he/she has done a particular mistake and also, they were heard discussing that old people who are suffering from dementia should not be cared since they will eventually die and this will hel p to save money. Culture defines that giving discipline to the child is one of the elements of the parenting. Giving discipline to the child will make them to be responsible, honest and kind to all people therefore it is very important to discipline so that he/she can be corrected. However, when giving discipline to the child the parents should be very careful so that they may not harm the child. Caring for the people with dementia is very challenging both physically and mentally. Therefore, it is very important for the people who are taking care of them to be very understanding because it is not their fault. If an elderly person who suffering from dementia is properly cared about then they will be able to live for a very long period of time (Parandeh et al., 2015, p.286). In regards to nursing perspective, it was noted that most students would lack sufficient knowledge on core ethics and values of the profession depending on the approach used by their educators (Parandeh et al., 2015, p.284). Hence, it was emphasized that in order to promote these professional values, appropriate education methods should be applied. Moreover, students become more attentive to caring aspects of professional values at the beginning of their nursing profession. This is the time when instructors become attentive to values such as altruism, human dignity, and integrity. Taking care of patients is not only a basic factor in nursing profession but also a major axis of ethical codes of conduct. Also, both instructors and students should take note of the importance of having human dignity since it is an important professional value. Currently, nothing is more important in any healthcare facility than paying attention to a patient’s dignity (Parandeh et al., 2015, p.284) . Therefore, just like other values, nursing education should be observed keenly in its programs. Culture is an influential factor in core ethics and values as it emphasizes on their differences and gives them shape. Different cultures define professional values while emphasizing on their importance. It is quite evident that the values and knowledge in nursing originated from the Western countries. However, this phenomenon raises questions on how the non-Western countries acquired their professional values. In any given society, there are ru...

Udhr s Article On Lgbt Rights - 2347 Words

Article on lgbt rights. Is acceptance of one’s sexuality as important as other issues like poverty, unemployment, global warming, natural disasters and proper health solutions for Ebola, Lyme that put our survival itself at risk? When meditating on this question, let us also analyse our own sexual fabric. We set the standards of our own yardsticks to measure a sexual identity as valid/ invalid, normal/ abnormal, natural/ unnatural, acceptable/ unacceptable, moral/ immoral and finally good/ bad. Perhaps, upon these standards we define and adopt a sexual identity that belongs to a privileged position. Why even in the twenty first century people have to fight for equal rights as they encounter discrimina tions based on sexual attitude and identity in a country that stands for democratic and secular rules? There are many such questions one needs to ponder on, as we try to understand the position of the lgbt community of the US juxtaposing its achievements to the ones made in other countries across the world. Confronting homophobia, eradicating hate crimes and providing equal rights to the lgbt community are all to be considered considerable achievements of the society. The United States has been a country, that has seen innumerable radical movements and fights for lgbt acceptance, presumably progressive as we still have countries that suppress the existence of sexually marginalised community by all means. The argument that sexual orientation is already given and it is biological becomes immaterial, when considering the plethora of sexual cultures that one can find in the US. History makes the evidence of the existence of variant sexual cultures like tribadism, sadomasochism and so on, available to the society. Let us not forget that many books based on the theme of homosexuality were banned, to suppress the evidence of one such sexual

William Golding s Lord Of The Flies - 1900 Words

In William Golding’s allegorical novel Lord of the Flies, examples of Sigmund Freud’s psychological theories are illustrated within the main characters through there personal thoughts and actions. Freud’s theory explores the inner separations of the mind and the effects on ones personality. Jack, the antagonist, can be seen as the immature and bloodthirsty Id, who hungers for meat and stops at nothing to get what he wants. Piggy and Simon can be seen on the other end of the spectrum as the SuperEgo, through their intellect and compassion. Ralph represents the Ego, the middle ground between the two extremes, by his responsible decision making skills and leadership qualities. All three characters balance each other out, and when either†¦show more content†¦According to Freud, the id wants whatever it wants without any consideration for the needs of others, reality, but only for self satisfaction. The Id can be seen as childish and immature because they ca re little for others needs and show no remorse or understanding of their action’s consequences. Often times the Id proves to be barbaric and uncivilized, regularly becoming violent. There are several examples of Jack portraying the Id. When given the responsibility of tending the fire that is supposed to alert anyone passing by of their location, Jack ignores the need of the group. He instead chooses to go hunting for pigs in the woods. While abandoning his responsibility, the fire goes out, making the lost boys undetectable. His reaction, or lack thereof, upon his return show that he is the Id through the absence of regret. â€Å"Ralph spoke. â€Å"You let the fire go out.† Jack shrugged, vaguely irritated by this irrelevance, but too happy to let it worry him. â€Å"We can light the fire again †¦ we had a smashing time†¦ I cut the pig’s throat.† (Golding, 75) This quote illustrates Jacks immaturity through his inability to realize the consequ ence of his mistake. The fire Jack was supposed to be tending was built with the intention of alerting rescuers, and his lack to tend to it could be the difference between life and death for the group of stranded boys. His failure to recognize the severity of his mistake displays his

Julius Caesar an Iconic Roman

Introduction Based on my personal opinion, Julius Caesar was a highly influential Roman, as a leader and as an ordinary person. He is a person who greatly influenced the then Roman people, as well as the recent generations, including Western culture affiliates. He lived between July 100 BC and March 44 BC. Caesar was a statesman, Roman General, and a renowned writer of Latin literature.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Julius Caesar an Iconic Roman specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More He was a major actor in bringing about the gradual revolution of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. Among the milestones of his life, in 60 BC, together with Pompey, he formed the political alliance, an establishment created to dominate Roman politics for a number of years. However, their attempts to converge power through populist movements, were greatly opposed by the conservative elite class within the Roman senate. These inclu ded Cato the younger, and Cicero. Caesar’s conquest over Gaul was accomplished by 51 BC, leading to the expansion of Rome’s coverage to the English Channel and the Rhine area. Caesar recorded the accomplishment of becoming the first Roman Empire, to cross both boundaries, after building a bridge across the Rhine and leading the first invasion into the British territory (Thorne, 2003). Discussion The accomplishments which Caesar achieved, marked him as an unmatched military leader, who would command massive military power, which led to his eclipsing of Pompey’s standing. The division of power among the two was further threatened by the death of Crassus in 53 BC. Later, the political realignments taking place in Roman rule led to confrontation between Caesar and Pompey, with Pompey assuming the course of the senate. Through the demands of the senate, Caesar was required to face a trial in Rome, over a number of charges. Instead, Caesar accompanied by one legion, m arched from Gaul to Italy, during which, he crossed the Rubicon in 49 BC. The march sparked a civil war, which left Caesar, the unopposed leader of the Roman Republic.Advertising Looking for essay on history? Let's see if we can help you! Further, he centralized the bureaucracy of the Roman Republic, thus was declared a dictator in precedence. Later on, a number of senators led by Marcus Brutus, ordered the assassination of Caesar in 44 BC, hoping that his death would help revert the system to the constitutional republic government system. However, the unexpected came about, as a series of civil wars took place, which led to the ultimate permanent establishment of the Roman Empire by Caesar’s adopted heir, Octavius (Augustus Caesar). The larger part of Caesars life was marked by his military en gagements (Thorne, 2003). During his time and after his death, especially among the Romans and his present day admirers, Julius Caesar was well-liked and revered for a number of accomplishments and traits. These include the view that he was a defender of the rights of the people of his time, against the ruling oligarchy. He is also revered as a highly ambitious person, who was able to push his way into dictatorial power, and bringing about the death of the republic, through his highly developed tactical leadership. Caesar is also revered for his gifted, versatile nature, which saw him amass great success in war, as an orator and a statesman in an effective manner (Thorne, 2003). Another area that has touched and influenced succeeding generation till the present time, is the literary ability of Caesar. His literary creations are highly revered and used as military references. These include the civil war literature (three books), and commentaries on the Gallic wars, which are document ed in seven books. This literature lives on, and is cited as beautiful and clearly drawn from Latin classic works. In the field of poetry, the only one of Caesar’s works which is traceable to the present, is a poem about Terrence. This piece has also received usage and reverence as a concise Latin piece, depicting the literal constructions of the then Roman society.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Julius Caesar an Iconic Roman specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In tracing his influence on the Western culture up to date, Caesars death, served to trigger his power and influence, which grew to the level of installing him as a central symbol of western culture and a mythic emblem. In contributing to the Western culture, the figure of Caesar has been adopted by historical figures like Machiavelli, Shakespeare, Madison Avenue, and George Shaw. For instance, Mussolini and Napoleon have given tribute to Caesar†™s crossing of the Rubicon in the protection of the dictatorial course they supported. Caesar has received credit as a one of a kind political leader. Credit is given to the social, economic, and political changes he caused on the Roman society and government. Caesar’s unique model is given credit and acknowledgement for the ability he showed in breaking the long-standing laws operating within the then Roman society. This serves to show him as a historical model, who may be emulated by the leaders of today, to bring about the changes that are needed within the history of government systems. Some of the revolutionary changes of Caesar, include his bringing of an entire army into the city, mainly because, prior to his act of disobedience, the army had not set foot inside the city of Rome. Caesar is seen as a proponent of changes, against the interests of the powerful system, proving the ability of changing socially constructed tolerance for undesired societal systems and stru ctures. Some of the lines or key phrases used or related to his life, are used in real life situations, to explain the directly unrelated events or occurrences. One phrase which has received such usage to a considerable level is, ‘Crosses the Rubicon,’ which is used as a figurative phrase to show the situation of going beyond the expected conventional levels. For instance, the phrase is used in explaining the cases, where an individual acts way beyond his entitlement, in terms of what he is allowed to do and what not to. These constructions show that his lines of action, mark milestones in marking real life events, which has held value for many generations after his death (Elton, 1996).Advertising Looking for essay on history? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More After his death, instead of his legacy dying and things returning to the way they were before he had got into the picture of political leadership, they got even worse, with the possibility of a return to the republic status becoming impossible. Instead, what happened was that civil wars started taking place, which threatened the leadership of the very people who had gotten Caesar assassinated. After all the civil wars and the deterioration in stability, the leadership fell into the hands of Caesars heir, Mr. Augustus Caesar, and not the rivals. The power of Augustus, further led to the permanent change to the empire status of the region, thus the hopes of reclaiming the republic status (Casson, 1998). The death of Caesar was more of a motivation to the Romans, and not a loss of their highly esteemed leader. This can be traced to the dramatic entry into power, which had clearly portrayed to the Romans, the ability of working against the common current or established negative principl es. After his death, the Romans were again woken up to the fact that they would expect the leadership imbalances eliminated by Caesar to resurface. As a result, the fear that a power struggle would take place empowered the Romans, which led to the revolt against the leadership change, thus the civil wars witnessed. This was highly unexpected, as Caesar, a declared dictator, had the support of all the people of Rome, and his death resulted in administrative imbalances. That helped serve the role of showing that he was more of a Roman’s leader, though a dictator. This trait has led to the long held prominence of this icon, thus the influence of Western leadership which comes along with it (Blackburn Holford, 1999). The key role played by Caesar in changing Rome and Europe in general, is socially, through the conquering of Gaul and the extension of the Roman culture into England, Belgium, and France. This was the unifying tie, between these varied lands of Celtic tribes into a unified common, in the fabric of the history of Western Europe as Romanic, and the Germanic Europe as a classic. These major revisions of the cultural aspects of Europe and other societies, have played a great role, in shaping the current world, which has directed credit to him, even thousands of years after his death (Adkins Adkins, 1998). Conclusion One highly revered figure in the history of the Western culture as well as the history of the globe as a whole is Caesar, a person who was authoritative in his time, and who grew more influential after his death. The areas that give this figure immense influence, include his pattern of leadership against the odds, as well as the historical role played in creating the Western culture. Thousands of years later, his name is as influential as it was after his death, both in leadership lines as well as other areas. References Adkins, L., Adkins, R. (1998). Discrimation of Homosexuals in the Workplace essays

Discrimation of Homosexuals in the Workplace essays English 111 Paper #4 Benefits for Homosexuals in the Workplace For many years now minority groups have been fighting to get equal representation in high paying jobs and to be treated like everyone else if they are hired. The minority group that I wish to focus on is homosexuals. Many gays believe that they are being treated unfairly by companies that do not offer domestic partner benefits and other fringe benefits that are offered to heterosexual workers and their spouses. They argue that their partners are in effect their spouses and should be subject to the same treatment as heterosexual couples. On the other hand many believe that domestic partnership is not the same as marriage and to give gays domestic partner benefits would be giving them special treatment. There are also those religious groups that believe homosexuality is wrong in gods eyes and to give gays domestic partner benefits would be endorsing or condoning sin. Many companies that do have domestic partner benefit plan s argue by having workers of different backgrounds they can raise sales in the diverse marketplace and attract and keep workers of good training and skill. And by ignoring the needs of gay and lesbian workers they risk losing talented workers, raising their recruitment and training costs, and lowering employee moral and productivity (Open the corporate closet). There are a couple of reasons why the issue of giving gays equal rights in the workplace has not been addressed in the past. First, the human-relations people in a lot of companies dont spend much time thinking about gay issues. Andrew Sherman of The Segal Company says, my sense has been that HR people do not have a lot of knowledge about gay workplace issues(Open the corporate closet). Professionals in other companies have made similar statements such as most people dont know how they really feel about homosexuality until they are confronted with it&qu...

Some psychologists do basic research, developing theories and testing them through carefully honed research methods involving observation, experimentation and analysis. Other psychologists apply the disciplines scientific knowledge to help people, organizations and communities function better. As psychological research yields new information, whether its developing improved interventions to treat depression or studying how humans interact with machines, these findings become part of the disciplines body of knowledge and are applied in work with patients and clients, in schools, in corporate settings, within the Judicial system, even in professional sports. Psychology is a doctoral-level profession. Psychologists study both normal and abnormal functioning and treat patients with ental and emotional problems. Reflective journal on HRM Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Reflective journal on HRM - Essay Example While the HRM have considerable powers over the employees the ethical code amongst these HRM is not constant through out. The article describes the role of HRM in controlling the problems faced by the employees. However if the HRM himself is biased or partial the decision taken by him would not comply with the ethical code of Human Resource practice. This partiality shown by the HRM for their employees can further deepen the problem faced by the company. To solve the issues faced by the employees Dispute Resolution procedures are applied. These Dispute Resolutions help the employees to put forward their issues and get them solved accordingly. However due to the impartialities amongst the HRM the Dispute Resolution system is going through a lot of problems. As emphasized in this article a Dispute Resolution system should always involve neutral judges. The judges here can be referred to as the Human Resource Managers working in the companies. The article emphasizes further on the neutr ality and partially practiced by the Human Resource Managers. The HRM should not have a relationship of any sort with the employees as this may affect the decisions taken by them in regard to the complaints given to them. The article emphasizes on the fact that favoritism should be removed from the Human Resource system as this affects the decisions and further makes the decision unequal to one party. The Human Resource Managers should have a neutral stance towards the weak and the powerful party so that even if the powerful party commits any mistake it is brought back to the terms and conditions applied by the company. Furthermore the article describes the role of the HRM with accordance to the new legislation which was introduced in Australia in 2005. This legislation is known as the Work Choices Act. This legislation has given more powers to the HRM i.e. they can dismiss workers without settling their disputes. This power provided to the HRM could be used in a negative way too as at times the HRM would prefer dismissing the workers rather than settling the issue between the workers. The legislation has provided an edge to the HRM and the employers over the workers. As these powers vested to both the HRM and employers would help them in dismissing the workers without settling their issues. This would affect the overall ethical code of the company. As I personally have experienced having a dispute between my co-workers I think that the Human Resource Manager plays an important role in resolving the disputes and the power vested to them can be used in the negative way. The co-workers who have an understanding with the Human Resource Managers are preferred by them over other workers. As my issue was solved by a HR manager who was neutral, I figured out that HR manager played an important role in resolving the company's problems. However if the HR manager is biased the decisions passed by them would not comply with the ethical code and terms. The HR manager should not be given the powers to dismiss workers as these powers given to them would help them to dismiss the workers directly rather than solving their issues. The HR manager should be selected by the employer with extreme caution as he is the main person in handling the internal issues of the company. The HR manager s

The Recent History and Dynamics of Culture Essay

The Recent History and Dynamics of Culture - Essay Example Spoken communication gave rise to stories, poetry and music in order to make remembering easier and communicating more entertaining. Written language changed the way we use our brains, and the printing press made knowledge available to all who could learn to read. This led to the rise of the middle classes, and to the development of the idea of a separation between the cultured and the masses. Public education was one result of technology and the rising middle class, as society needed to train its best and brightest in order to maintain productivity and growth. The Internet has now eliminated the need for physical books and made this knowledge available to literally anyone in the world with a connection. The common thread here is language, art and communication. Most parts of any culture fall under one of these categories. Law and government seem to be part of culture, but these are simply formal governance of the cultural values society. So culture is, essentially, everything involving more than one person in a society. This includes literature, music, art, value systems, behavioural norms, institutions, and the interpretation and dissemination of each of these. Food, a major part of culture, is both ritual and art. Music and visual arts are products, and also mirrors, of the culture. However, more than anything else, a society’s language and its texts represent it s culture.... (Most Canadians or Australians did not make the cut either.) British and Western Europeans were the sole providers of â€Å"literature†. Cultured people were â€Å"elite†, so anything readily accessible by the masses was not a part of culture. This meant that even though cultured texts, music and art were available to everyone, only the most cultured could truly understand them, if they even read them. It required a great deal of education to read Homer in the original language, or to appreciate Opera without subtitles, or ballet, or to read works of learned men and discuss the myriad values of each. Theoretically, culture includes modern discourses that bridge the various disciplines which include culture as part of their inquiries. Certain critical practices for cultural analysis are used to create that discourse concerning cultural activities, products, and institutions (Jere Paul Surber). It has expanded to this from the very narrow beginnings in Great Britain in th e 18 century. Certain British universities instituted cultural studies in the 1950s. With this kind of base, cultural studies aims for a practical critique of concrete and measurable factors that effect economic and political power. In its beginnings, culture was the pursuit of improvement of person among the aristocracy by virtue of education and practice. One of the first developments of any culture is the appearance of its critics. Critics always try to define what they criticise in order to be able to define its value. This sets them up to be the experts and that attracts people who need to feed their egos. In the late nineteenth century, people like Matthew Arnold saw culture more as a product than an aspect of society. It was something to aspire to as it represented knowledge of the best

Various Shades of grey :: essays research papers

Various Shades of Grey Honesty. A small word. Barely seven letters. Its potency for explosion – infinite. Today we are at the crux of change as Europe had been during the Renaissance. Our world today is torn apart by the greed of others. It is submerged in the excesses of the rich and the powerful. As per surveys conducted by the United Nations the top ten percent of the world’s population control two thirds of the earths natural resources. Today we are racked by war, hatred, racism, genocide and terrorism. It is at this hour we need the basic tenets of morality to guide us at the epoch of civilization, an era which compromises the best of times and the worst of times. In troubled times we turn to others for help. In these days there exists no more kindred souls so we are left to turn to ourselves for help. When we turn to ourselves, let us at least be true to our conscience, so that we may escape from the sin of deceit. Today’s society demands that we compromise on our basic morality for survival. In this world deceit has taken over our lives. We lie to ourselves, our friends, to our enemies, to our employers and to our near and dear ones. We are forced to and rarely do we have a choice. Even if we had a choice, there rarely exists a person of sufficient moral fiber to exercise his or her choice. Even if we are compelled to deceit for the sake of others, let us not lie blatantly and remorsefully but take heed that what we are doing is wrong. Today many circumstances demand that we resort to deceit, so that we may eke out a decent living, live with dignity and protect those around us. The evils of globalization, terrorism, bigotry and unnecessary competition for basic necessities have ensured that. It is no more an option but a necessity for the common man to turn to deceit. Let us take a look at some fairly recent examples close to our home and in the international scenario. During the riots in Gujarat several people were killed, burnt, raped and tortured. All for the sake of religious bigotry. Now if a person wishes to escape unharmed with his or her dignity intact, and in the course of escape if should he have to lie about his religious interests to do so, cannot be condemned for every one has been given the right to live with dignity.

Chilean Mine Collasps

Chilean Mine Collapse BCOM/275 Chilean Mine Collapse In Chile, on August 5, 2010, a collapse inside a main access tunnel of a mine trapped 33 miners inside (Parry & Retther, 2010). The miners were trapped at a depth of at least 700 meters (Weik, 2010). There were 32 Chileans men and one Bolivian man trapped in the old gold and coppers mine (Parry & Retther, 2010). The miners estimated that they would not be rescued for four months. The miners had to receive emergency food and supplies through a bore hole. Around 2 p. m. , Raul Villegas had just finished filling the truck with rocks when he heard a loud crack (Yang 2013).Being at least 700 meters below the surface with dust filling the cavern did not affect Villegas because the sounds of collapsing rocks and the dissatisfaction of the earth was something that Villegas was used to hearing. Villegas proceeded to do his job as he passed a fellow miner Frank Lobos, in which he was walking down the mine to get some men for lunch (Yang, 201 3). As Villegas proceeded closer to the surface, cloudy grime overtook the truck enclosing him in dirt and gloom. As he began to see the surface there was a massive collapse (Yang, 2013). After the collapse, Villegas rushed from the mine onto the surface. After this incident occurred Villegas reported it to the supervisor, but it took hours later before he would notify authorities (Yang, 2013). Upon being trapped in a mine the 33 workers were anonymous because there were a bunch of the miners trying to make a living shaving away at the rocks. A century ago miners that were trapped were considered a lost cause. If the mine was caved in then the miners would hammer crosses into the ground. Because of this theory miners in the area started placing wooden crosses outside the entrance. For the saving team, leaving the 33 miners to decease in that pit-hole was not a possibility (Yang, 2013).Villegas and other miner workers was sent down the mine but after getting 400 meters, they realized that the ramp that was once there is now gone. Around 700,000 tons of rocks and more than six times that bulk of the solid concrete that distorted in the mine, which cut off slopes and destroyed the mines air circulation shaft. They later discovered that a stepladder was lost from that ventilation shaft that could have permitted the miners to freedom. Several hours after the collapse The Atacama region’s six-person special tasks crisis force was called to the mine which they entered around 9 p. . (Yang, 2013). On a Saturday, two months after a rock collapsed and sealed the Mina San Jose, a rescue hole was competed for the miners. Almost once every half hour, a man climbed into a cage nearly a half-mile underground and made a trip upward. They monitored the miners on video for any sign of panic and they were aided by oxygen masks, glasses to protect their eyes from light and sweaters for the climate from heat to chill air (Yang, 2013). Considerations to remember given the diff erent roles and people are very important, considering the people that were affected by this incident. Both the business and the family were affected by this accident because the company already established a bad reputation from the recent deaths that occurred. The family members were affected because they did not know if there love ones would make it out alive or not. In order for the company to stay in business there role was to recuse these men as quickly as possible, whereas the family role was to keep faith (Yang, 2013). The potential needs of the family member would consist of sympathy and assurance. When the family receives the message that their love ones are trapped in a mine they need assurance that they will do everything in their power to save them. The potential needs of the company’s employees when receiving the message is the assurance that there would be another job for them to support their families, also the assurance that they will save their fellow miners (Y ang, 2013). In conclusion, the action that the writer would take before and after the message is delivered is to intake the situation so there would be no surprises. The writer would also hope for the best and let the information soak in before reacting. The Chilean Miners are very strong men and they never lost their faith. They had to eat less, drink less and stress less in order to survive. Now these men has celebrated birthdays and enjoyed their life without looking back. References Parry, W. , & Retther, R. A company has separate legal entity, has perpetual succession, limited liability et cetera. All these and many more factors make a company different from any other form of business. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Contributory Liability" essay for you Create order The topic of this project which relates to the legal status and Scope of contributory under the companies act demands the author to analyse elaborate and enunciate on the contributory liability and the relevance and existence contributories in a company. The term contributory refers to the liability of a person to contribute to the assets of a company. Such a liability is not of relevance when the company is a going concern, it comes into existence or become relevant only when the company ceases to be a going concern that is in the event of the company being wound up. With respect to the liability of a member in a going company that is before the liquidation of a company or before the company ceases to be a going concern the liability of a member as to contribute is measured by the contractual obligation arising from his membership in the company and in case of a company which is limited by shares the liability is measured with respect or in accordance with the amount to be paid w hich is limited by the memorandum of association. The project also tries to discuss the liability and the nature of liability of the contributories in the normal course when the winding up proceedings have been initiated and also in the course when the contributory dies and the legal representative of such contributory are instead made liable to fulfil the liability from the estate of the contributory. The project also discusses about the contributory liability of an insolvent member. Research Question What is the meaning of contributory in the companies act? What is the scope and relevance of contributory? Chapterisation Chapter 1 à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å" Contributories This chapter will deal with the different kinds of the contributories and will try to elaborate upon the different scenarios of the contributories. Chapter 2 à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å" Contributoriesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ Liability This chapter will talk about the nature and the type of liability of the contributories and will try to elaborate upon the scope of contributory liability. Chapter 1 à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å" C ontributories The term winding up and dissolution differs in the sense that winding up is a means by which the dissolution of a company is brought about and its assets realized and applied in payment of its debts. After satisfaction of the debts, if there is any balance, it is paid back to the members in proportion to the contribution made by them to the capital of the company. Once the process of winding up is completed, the company is dissolved. There can be dissolution without winding up under a scheme for amalgamation where the transferor company can be dissolved by an order of the court, without going through the process of winding up. An order of winding up a company does not by itself put an end to its existence although from the commencement of the winding up, the company ceases to carry on the business except required for beneficial winding up. Insolvency is a stage when a company is unable to pay its debt due to financial incompetency or when debts of the company have exceeded the assets of the company. There are two types of insolvency- personal insolvency and corporate insolvency, but here we are concerned only with the corporate insolvency. Insolvency is one of the grounds for winding up of a company. The relevance of the term contributory refers to every person liable to contribute to the assets of company in the event of its being wound up and includes a holder of any shares which are fully paid-up.[1] The terms contributory and member is not interchangeable. Every member would become a contributory whereas the converse is not true. In the case of Rajdhani Grains and Jaggery Exchange Ltd.,[2]it was said that a legal representative in case of a deceased member becomes a contributory but will not become a member till the name of such representative is entered in the Register of members. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"Memberà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ as contributory A person other than a subscriber to the memorandum, can become a member only when he agre es in writing, no oral or implied agreement being sufficient. Mere entry in the register will no longer make a person a member. He must have agreed in writing to become a member, and the burden of proving this will be on the liquidator. But a person who has assented in his being treated as a member by attending meetings, receiving dividends, etc., will be estopped. A person whose name is present in the register would have to take steps to raise his objections or to have the register rectified, though the courts are very reluctant to order rectification after commencement of winding up.[3] He must not stand by and wait and then, at a later stage, with knowledge that he has been held out to the public as a shareholder of the company, seek to have his name removed. Thus, where a person who knew that his name was entered in the register of shareholders of a company continued to have it for more than three years and took no action to have it removed from the register till he receiv ed the notice from the Official Receiver after the winding up of the company started, it was held that even assuming that the allotment of shares was void yet his application for excluding his name from the list of contributories was rightly dismissed by the court on the doctrine of holding out. The result of this doctrine of holding out is that if a persons name is on the register with his consent, and he claims to have it removed on some ground or other, he must exercise the right promptly, otherwise, he forfeits it. Even where a name is, pursuant to a void contract placed on the register, delay after knowledge may be fatal.[4] But where the transferor had notified to the company the fact of transfer but the company delayed the matter, he was allowed to have his name removed even when the winding up had commenced.[5] The fact that the name was entered in the register on the basis of an insufficiently stamped transfer form is no defence when the company is in winding up.[6] A pr esumption of continuing membership arises from the fact of the presence of the name in the register even if a name could have been dropped for defaults in payment, etc. in terms of the companys articles.[7]Where the membership was on the basis of an allotment which could have been avoided for misrepresentation in prospectus, etc., it cannot be avoided once the winding up is on.[8] The same result will follow where the contract of allotment is subsequently found illegal or void.[9] An entry in the register need not be substantiated by producing documents such as share scrips or letters of allotment.[10] Subscribers to the memorandum of association automatically become members on registration of the company and therefore liable as such to be placed in the list of contributories whether or not any shares were allotted to them or where shares were allotted but they had not paid for the shares.[11]It was held inModal Bank Ltd. v.Janwi Narain[12]that when the applicant accepted the off er for allotment of shares and consented to act as director, the contract was completed and, without any allotment, the person became a shareholder. The fact that the share application money was paid in the form of a promissory note executed in favour of the bank was immaterial. Accordingly, the shareholder was held to be contribution, when the bank went into liquidation. Where an application for shares was subject to a condition to be accepted by the directors and the directors made the allotment but did not fulfil the condition; consequently therefore the allottee obtained a refund order, it was held that his name could not be entered in the list of contributories.[13] Contributory in case of death of a member On the death of a contributory, either before or after he has been placed on the list of contributories, his legal representatives and heirs shall be liable to contribute to the assets of the company in discharge of his liability, and they shall also be regarded as a contributory accordingly. They shall be liable in due course of administration to contribute to the assets.[14]Where an order of payment was made against a contributory who was dead, the court said that remedy of the liquidator lay against the estate of the deceased in due course of administration.[15] The liability of the legal representative of a deceased contributory is only a liability to pay out of the estate of the deceased and extends only to the extent of the value of the estate coming into the hands of the legal representatives.[16] The liability is co-extensive with the liability of the deceased contributory.[17] Contributories in case of insolvency of member Insolvent contributory or, where the contributory being a body corporate has been ordered to be wound up, not only monies due in respect of the contributorys present liability but his liability for future calls also may be admitted to proof.[18] A member does not become a contributory until the winding up. In such case, his rights as a member will vest in his assignee in insolvency who will be the contributory. A shareholder ceases to be a contributory if he is adjudged insolvent.[19] As, after a contributory becomes insolvent, his estate vests in his assignee in insolvency, the contributory has no personal rights in relation to the company and cannot take any proceedings in his own name.[20] Fully paid shareholder is contributory It is now a judicially well-established position that a fully-paid holder of shares is a contributory.[21] A fully paid shareholder will not, however, be placed on the list of contributories, as he is not liable to make any contribution to the assets, except in cases where on distribution of surplus assets he has received a large sum of money and he should repay a portion of that money where later it was found that a debt due to inland revenue was not paid earlier.[22] It is doubtful whether the holders of new shares floated in winding up shall be t reated as contributories and can be required by the court to pay the money to satisfy the debts and liability of the company in their capacity as contributories.[23] Chapter 2 Contributoriesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ liability In a going company,i.e., before liquidation, the liability of a member to contribute is measured by the contractual obligation arising from his membership in the company, and in the case of a company limited by shares; it is measured by the liability to pay the amount limited by the memorandum of association. When a company passes into liquidation, a new liability arises and the shareholder becomes a contributory subject to the statutory liability under respective section and in the manner defined by it.[24] This principle does not apply to liability to pay the premium money on shares because that is a matter for contract between the member and the company.[25] A person who is a name lender only (benami), will be held liable as a contributory, though he i s entitled to be indemnified by the beneficial owner.[26] Position of a nominee-shareholder is also the same.[27] A company cannot relieve a member of his liability by purchasing his shares, such purchase being against the Act.[28] Liability to pay interest on the call amount arises after the call has been made by the liquidator and from the date fixed for payment of the call money.[29] The liability is not taken away by any collateral contract under which payment of calls on the shares might depend on any special conditions which have failed.[30] The contributories may be of one class or of more than one class according as the memorandum and articles of the company have defined and grouped the members. The liability which the statute imposes, affects every member who has not paid the full amount remaining unpaid on his shares and he is required to contribute to the assets of the company to the extent of the amount so remaining unpaid. Section 295[31] provides that after a win ding up order is made, the Tribunal may at any time pass an order requiring any contributory for the time being on the list of contributories to pay any money due to the company, from him or from the estate of the person whom he represents. Any money required to be paid by such representatives shall be out of the estate only. In the case of an unlimited company, the Tribunal may allow the contributory to set off any money due to him or to the estate which he represents, from the company, on any independent dealing or contract with the company. But any money due to him as a member of the company in respect of any dividend or profit cannot be set off. Nature of Liability of Contributory The liability of a contributory extends only to the amount, if any, remaining unpaid on the shares held by him. In the case of a contributory, who holds fully paid shares, there is no liability. There is liability only in the case of partly paid shares, to the extent of share amount remaining unpaid. It was held in the case of In re, Apex Film Distributors, Ltd.[32] that liability can only be extinguished by payment. The liability of the contributories is not affected by the companys articles or any agreement between the company and the members. Though the liability is a debt, the liability to pay the debt arises only if and when calls are made, and even then, only to the extent of the amount called. Where the unpaid share money has been mortgaged, this does not give the mortgagee a direct right to call upon the contributories to pay that money. He has to ask the liquidator to call upon the members to pay and then to handover the proceeds to the mortgagee. In this respect there is no difference whether the call is by directors or by a liquidator.[33] Conclusion The term contributory is basically used for communicating the liability of every member or shareholder to contribute to the assets of a company in case the company ceases to be a going concern. The lia bility is limited and extends only to such amount of share which are unpaid. If a shareholder has fully paid up shares then even if he is in the list of the contributories he is not liable to pay any amount as the shares are fully paid up. It is now a judicially well-established position that a fully-paid holder of shares is a contributory. A fully paid shareholder will not, however, be placed on the list of contributories, as he is not liable to make any contribution to the assets, except in cases where on distribution of surplus assets he has received a large sum of money and he should repay a portion of that money where later it was found that a debt due to inland revenue was not paid earlier. In case of a company which is a going concern, this liability is decided on the basis of the contractual terms on whose basis the membership is granted to the member. The contributory liability shifts can shift like in case of a deceased person, the liability shifts from the deceased per son to the legal representative of that person. Insolvent contributory or, where the contributory being a body corporate has been ordered to be wound up, not only monies due in respect of the contributorys present liability but his liability for future calls also may be admitted to proof. A member does not become a contributory until the winding up. Thus, the liability of a contributory is directly related to the limited liability facet of the company form of business. Contributoriesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ existence is a matter of concern only in case of the liquidation or winding up of a company, the liability is primarily on the member but it might shift in case of deceased person. 1 | Page [1] Companies Act 2013 2(26), Companies Act 1956 426 [2] Re [1983] 54 Comp. My Roots of Fear Essay Example For Students

My Roots of Fear Essay Is fear something bad? Do you think that you’ll look weak to people if you are afraid of something? Well, my own opinion is that’s not true at all: I believe fear is not something evil; it only tells us what our weaknesses and/or insecurities are. And once you know your weakness, you can become stronger as well as kinder. Humans are human because of the capacity of realizing their fears, and so I did. My life has been a roller coaster since I born, so the word â€Å"fear† is one of the words in the top of it – slowing down while it goes to the top until it just goes down flashing over the rails. Different experiences in my life had been a total source of understanding my own meaning of fear. Experience 1: Insecurities, jitters, and panic are some ingredients that often lead people to cook their fears of something, and those ingredients are often found when people get lost and cannot find anyone. When I was little – I suppose when I was around 7 years old – I got lost in the middle of a beach, around night time. I couldn’t help it but to get scared. People walking near me made me feel very unease. But then I realized I was not alone; I was with my loyal dog Pelusa – he would be named Fluff in English. Even if it was impossible for me, I think he was telling me to not be afraid and do not give up hope. So then, I stop feeling lost and hopeless and started to look for my parents with him by my side. Of course, after a while, we could find them and go back home with them. However, I knew then that I could never forget that time, because it was where I knew my own weakness – A weakness of being lost and feeling alone all by myself. But, even when I felt this way, it wasn’t something that bad so I would just give up hopes. This is what Pelusa made me believe in, and I’m grateful for it. Experience 2: New schools in new different countries is a very difficult test for a child like me, who doesn’t want to have a big zero in her â€Å"new friends† grade. So, when a new â€Å"adventure† began in a whole new world, I’ve been always on my own. When people ask me if I’m lonely, I obviously say no. But back then, I would always start crying or sobbing alone somewhere else because I knew I was lonely, and that there was nothing I could do for me not to be it anymore. I was terrified by only thinking of being alone all along in this new environment. Even when I grow up, my loneliness takes over my body and tries to pull me down in the abyss of my fears. I had no idea what to do, or what to think about. But then I realized, that even if my loneliness pulls me down, I still had people who will pull me up again every time I feel like falling. After some days or weeks, I could start talking to other people and make new friends at school. I finally started to stop being afraid, and could find my spot in this new world I came to. Now, I still change of school after some times, but I am not afraid anymore, because I understand that it is not something that only happens to me, but to everyone who have the same experience as me, and decided to stand up. Fears should be avoided, but accepted so you could move a step further. My own fears taught me that: they are nor bad nor evil, but it only depends on how people see them in a situation, whom usually look at them as a bad thing. It probably sounds different from what you’ve heard, but this is my belief basing myself in this experience. .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 , .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .postImageUrl , .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 , .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383:hover , .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383:visited , .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383:active { border:0!important; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383:active , .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383 .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc83383ef6b9f7987290aa8ee61b38383:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Breast Cancer EssayExperience 3: My friend was only 10 years old when her â€Å"change† happened. She was kidnapped in Mexico when, in the city of Juarez, young girls were token away from their families and suffer the greatest of the despairs that they could have in their lives. After this happens, I’ve heard a good news that she was found two years after her kidnapping; they might have been so happy and relieved when they did. I also heard, that when she was found, she changed a little. Not in a bad way, but in a really good way. I was curious, so on day I called her. First of all, I asked her how her experience was at those moments while she was kidnapped. She only told me that all she saw was darkness, tears, and fear spreading all over the place. So I asked her if she still was afraid of going out of the house, fearing of being taken away again. She kept quite a little bit; it was a moment like those seconds that can be felt like hours. After a while, she answered that she obviously was, but she couldn’t just forget about it either. She said that if she hadn’t been taken way, she couldn’t find out that her own fears, and she wouldn’t have the chance to enjoy life again. That she wouldn’t let that stop her of moving on in life, so she did not mind about it and was enjoying life even more than before. I was surprised that after all that she could said that. From that moment, I took her experience as an example of life to look up to. So brave, so full of hopes, so gentle She made me believe that being afraid was something essential in life, like pain or regrets. Now, I’m proud of saying that I believe that we must move forward and reach for what we want, especially when we are afraid. Otherwise, we stand still, we become lazy, we atrophy, and we miss all the wonderful terror of this world. Therefore, I believe fears are essential in life. Human who think they can get rid of it easily haven’t grown or learned enough. If we’re ever afraid, we just have to take action, stand up and move on. We humans have two legs for it, so we can stand and walk. Maybe we can’t help it being scared all alone. There are people who don’t even have their own legs to walk on. However, it is all fine, because they still have people around them who help them to stand up as well. We all have got people who we love and love us close by as well. So, there’s nothing to be afraid of, because we are not alone after all
